Rich Anderson is the President of Phare Consulting, a firm focused on helping security manufacturers grow thru strategic planning, acquisition design, marketing messaging, technology planning, and organizational development. He brings a broad range of executive experience to his clients with both a technical and marketing background. Rich served as the VP of Marketing of GE Security’s Enterprise Group, where he was charged with defining the product strategy, including requirements planning, market position, and messaging for GE’s security products serving the Fortune 500 market. Rich has spoken around the world on the security industry, its channel, its customers, and its technology.
Prior to that position, Rich worked for GE as the VP of Business and Market Development, where he helped lead the definition of their security acquisition and technology strategy and was a regular member of the Due Diligence team. Before that responsibility, Rich was a VP of Engineering, and in charge of the development of all high-end, software and hardware, access control products. During this period, he was one of the five staff members of CASI-RUSCO that lead a management buy out.
Rich began his career as a process control engineer for Babcock and Wilcox, where he moved to a broad range of positions including engineering and manufacturing management, and P&L responsibility for a test lab for nuclear control equipment. He has also worked for Rockwell International as a Director in charge of design verification. During his 32 years of senior positions in the high tech arena, and his 21 years in security, he has managed a variety of challenges, from organizational design to product design, and process analysis to market analysis.
Rich has a BSEE from Case-Western Reserve University and an MBA from Baldwin Wallace College. He is a Contributing Technical Editor for Security Technology Executive Magazine, and a regular author. He is also a member of American Society for Industrial Security, Security Industry Association, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and American Marketing Association.
